Waitrose and Emma Bridgewater collaboration raises £36,000 for The Prince’s Countryside Fund

A line of reusable shopping bags in Emma Bridgewater’s distinctive spot design on sale at Waitrose have raised over £36,000 for The Prince’s Countryside Fund.

The bags, made entirely from recycled plastic bottles by manufacturer Jutexpo, went on sale in June 2018, with 10% from the sale of each bag being donated to the Fund.

Each bag was made from four plastic bottles, in a process which turns the plastic into a durable fabric called rPet.

The bags featured Bridgewater’s classic polka dot designs in two summery colourways, and were sold at till in Waitrose stores across the UK.

Emma Bridgewater commented: “I am thrilled to launch these shopping bags made from recycled plastic water bottles. Recent campaigns have shown how vital it is that we all help to manage this situation responsibly to make sure our environment is not negatively impacted.

“I hope that Waitrose shoppers will enjoy these super-light and useful bags; and that they will serve as a positive daily reminder to recycle plastic wherever possible.”
