Plunkett Foundation 'Inspiring Rural Communities Together'

On Wednesday 5th December our grants officer Sophie attended the ‘Inspiring Rural Communities Together 2018’ event, run by The Plunkett Foundation.

The day was organised to help those who are interested in setting up a community project but are unsure of how to move their ideas forward.

In the Marketplace, charity and company stalls including The Prince’s Countryside Fund, The Post Office and Plunkett themselves provided business advice and guidance. Sophie was there to offer details of our grant programmes to those in need of support, and spoke to a number of people who were at the early stages of reinvigorating a community shop or pub.

A number of case study talks also took place throughout the day to inspire attendees. Separate representatives from a community shop, pub and woodland provided an insight into their successful projects and how the funding/advice which they received helped them to achieve their goals.

Additionally, there were interactive workshops to show community businesses how to crowdfund, boost their social impact and most importantly the essential steps for setting up their business.
