Friends of the Countryside

By supporting The Prince’s Countryside Fund, you will ensure our countryside, rural communities and farming families can thrive into the future

Become a Friend of the Countryside to create a real future for rural Britain

Give the gift of the countryside this Christmas

A monthly gift of as little as £3 enables family farms to thrive and empowers rural communities right across the UK. Farmers, and those who live and work in the countryside, need your help. We’re asking people to become a Friend of the Countryside because there are people in real need in our rural areas. Like those who call Tir Dewi, a farm support network in Wales, who’ve benefitted from our grant programme.

Gareth, director of Tir Dewi, explains: “The pressure facing farmers can be huge. Simply having someone to talk to can be a lifeline. We also send volunteers on-farm and gradually work on the problems, not for the farmers but with them. Without us, there are several farms that would have failed. The concerns of farmer mental health – farmer breakdown, hospitalization and suicide – are grave. Working with The Prince’s Countryside Fund has made a significant difference; we simply wouldn’t be able to survive without them.”

If you’d like to gift being a Friend of the Countryside to a loved one, please email Ellie Burnage to arrange a gift Friendship.

Our ambassador, Alan Titchmarsh visited Lurgashall Village Shop in Sussex, to find out how your money makes a real difference in our countryside.

Why should you give regularly?

Regular gifts provide security and stability for our work. They ensure we can plan for the future in the knowledge that we can execute our strategy. Our ambition is to support 10,000 farming families over the next three years and invest more than £1.5 million in vital community projects.

If you have any questions about becoming a member of the Friends of the Countryside programme, we would love to hear from you. Please email our Fundraising Officer, Rachel.
