Volunteers are vital to our villages

June 7, 2021

The Prince’s Countryside Fund is supporting 19 rural community projects across the UK through its grants programme, awarding a total of £178,225 in this round. From Northern Ireland to Northumberland, from village halls to rural crafts, The Prince’s Countryside Fund is as ever in awe of the ingenuity found in our rural communities.

The Prince’s Countryside Fund powers community-led solutions through our grants and resources to ensure that villages and market towns flourish – now and in the future. During National Volunteers Week the PCF wishes to highlight how vital volunteers are to so many of the organisations that the PCF supports.

Keith Halstead, Executive Director of The Prince’s Countryside Fund said: “Congratulations to the 19 rural community projects that we are supporting and our thanks to the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery and NFU Mutual Charitable Trust for their continuing support of our work. Volunteers are at the heart of rural community organisations – from village halls to village shops to community hubs – and during National Volunteers Week I would like to acknowledge our appreciation of the multiple and diverse roles volunteers often play in rural communities.”

Full details of the successful projects will be announced on Monday 21st June.
