PCF awarded further Defra funding

Keith Halstead, Executive Director said: “We are delighted to have received this funding from Defra which will enable the PCF, working with 15 delivery partners across England, to continue our Farm for the Future programme which offers farmers across England locally tailored and expert support to help them understand more about government policy changes, how they can adapt their farm businesses in response and improve how they manage their farmed environments.

“Between September 2021 and April 2022 we supported 880 farms in England to take control of their future, and we now look forward to expanding the reach of our programme over the next three years. We would not be able to do so without the tireless work of our delivery partners to whom I extend my sincere thanks.”

The Prince’s Countryside Fund has a track record of delivering successful business and environment training programmes to farmers, both through Farm for the Future and our Farm Resilience Programme. Farms who participated in our FRP see an average return of £3 for every £1 invested in the programme, as well as an average increase in profit of £9,600.

The Future Farming Resilience Fund will allow us to provide free business support to farmers during the early years of the agricultural transition. It will help them to:
• understand the changes that are happening
• identify how, what and when they may need to adapt their business models
• access tailored support to adapt

Defra has awarded grants to 17 organisations so that they can provide the scale-up phase of this resilience support. We will be announcing further information about our Farm for the Future programme and how farmers can take part next month. Sign up to our newsletter to find out first.
