Opening the Gate with Aldi

March 15, 2023

On Monday 13th March, The Prince’s Countryside Fund hosted their second ‘Opening the Gate’ virtual workshop in partnership with Aldi UK

The session, aimed at university students and recent alumni, focused on the range of career opportunities available in the agricultural industry, as well as how graduates can put themselves in the best position to secure roles and opportunities. During the workshop, we heard from three incredible speakers; firstly Nick Davies, Group Agricultural Director at 2 Sisters Food Group, secondly Chloe Cross, an agricultural consultant with Kite Consultancy, and thirdly Imogen Webb, a recent new entrant to farming working as a Breeding Unit Manager for Karro Food Group. The session was chaired by Ed Dungait, NFYFC Chair and arable farmer from Northumberland, who was fantastic at facilitating such interesting and engaging conversations.

The speakers discussed how agriculture can be an exciting industry for anyone – even those not from a farming background. Their top tips were to make mistakes but learn from them; ask questions and be curious, get excited and be passionate, and always listen and learn.

If you didn’t manage to join our session, you can watch it back here, and find other resources and top tips!
