His Majesty King Charles III’s Coronation

As the nation prepares to gather in celebration for His Majesty King Charles III’s Coronation, The Prince’s Countryside Fund, which was founded by the then Prince of Wales in 2010, continues to be inspired by his vision of providing practical support and commitment to the people of rural Britain.

His Majesty King Charles III created The Prince’s Countryside Fund because he understood the strains and stresses of those who live in and care for our precious countryside and he wanted to use the position he held then to help them.

Together with our value-sharing corporate partners, passionate ambassadors, and generous individual donors including the ‘Friends of The Countryside’, The Prince’s Countryside Fund continues to build a sustainable future for rural and farming communities.

Since the charity was established, it has supported over 2,500 small farming businesses across the UK and has awarded 481 grants totalling at £11.2m, reaching over 150,000 people in rural areas.

Keith Halstead, Executive Director of The Prince’s Countryside Fund said: “The Prince’s Countryside Fund has accelerated our scale and reach over the last three years to the benefit of ever more rural communities, building on the trust and credibility of the charity, which has always been underpinned by His Majesty King Charles III’s unparalleled empathy and support or the people of the countryside.

“It is such a joyous occasion for all of us at the PCF to celebrate the coronation of our founder, His Majesty King Charles III, and we are honoured to have been invited to observe part of the ceremonial procession for the Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla. PCF staff, plus a several farmers who have benefited the charity’s transformational programmes, will come together at The Queen Victoria Memorial Grandstand outside Buckingham Palace to mark this historic occasion.”

James Speers, a young farmer from Northern Ireland who was awarded a bursary by the PCF, will be present for the proceedings on Saturday. Commemorating the King’s patronage, he commented: “His Majesty King Charles III recognises the needs of farmers for a sustainable future, and he had the foresight to set up The Prince’s Countryside Fund. The first time I was fortunate enough to meet him was in 2017 after the flooding disaster in Northern Ireland. He discovered what had happened and came out to visit the communities affected, genuinely touched by the issues they faced and keen to understand how he could help. He values farmers, having lived and breathed the countryside and environmental causes from a young age.”
