Career Lifeline session provides agriculture students with guidance 

Students received professional insights from two guest speakers—Anna Jones, a freelance journalist, author and founder of the media and farming project Just Farmers, and Alex Dunn, Farm Manager at Sandwell Valley Country Park and the former Farmers’ Weekly Agriculture Student of the Year.

Anna detailed her career path, which began as a local journalist and included time with the BBC’s Countryfile, starting her own charity and now as an author. Alex’s story was similarly insightful, and offered a useful model for students from non-farming backgrounds seeking to enter the industry. Both offered advice and support for students, including providing advice on how to build connections in agriculture when starting from outside the industry, and the importance of developing a broad skillset at an early stage in your career.

Founded in 2019, the Sustainable Agriculture Bursary provides students with financial and mentorship support as they work to develop careers in sustainable agriculture. More information about the bursary and the PCF’s partnership with Jordans may be found here.
