Linda, Project Manager for DSWA said: “The original funding we received from The Prince’s Countryside Fund created the Training & Education Co-ordinator  job post,  it is from this that we were able to apply for further funding, which provided  full time bursary  opportunities for 14 young people to work with professional dry stone wallers for over 12 months. The Bursary Trainees are enjoying their new careers as fully qualified professional dry stone wallers. It is from the little acorn of getting The Prince’s Countryside Fund’s grant in the first place that all this has grown.”

George who has benefitted from this training said: “I first heard about The Prince’s Countryside Fund when I called the DSWA for information on training and found out about the Training Voucher Scheme. This provided £50 toward my first training session and without knowing it, would start my career. Three years later, I have completed a bursary apprenticeship and have achieved an Advanced qualification in dry stone walling. Without this voucher I may not be where I am today.”
