Farm Support Groups Initiative

Farm Support Groups Initiative

In January 2019, The Prince's Countryside Fund held its annual farmer network conference at the NFU Mutual head office in Stratford-upon-Avon. At this event, the farmer networks in attendance expressed a desire for the Fund to help them share best practice, knowledge, and advice more easily.

As a result of this, in summer 2019 we appointed Diane Spark to the role of Farm Support Coordinator. Over the past year, Diane has created a network of over 40 farm support groups, working right across the UK. These groups receive a quarterly newsletter sharing news, advice, and events, and Diane is always available to discuss funding options, ways of working collaboratively, and to advocate for these networks to government and other bodies.

In October 2020, the National Lottery Community Fund awarded The Prince’s Countryside Fund £25,000 as part of their Coronavirus Community Support Fund. This grant is going towards our Farm Support Initiative and allowing us to extend Diane's contract for a further sixth months.

Diane can be reached by email here*:
