Minister expresses support for The Prince's Countryside Fund

Defra Secretary of State, Michael Gove, expressed his support for The Prince's Countryside Fund in the politics question and answer session at this year's Oxford Farming Conference last week, 3rd January.

When asked how future agricultural policy will support education and knowledge transfer for farmers as to how they can change their farming systems, Michael Gove replied:

“I think there are two things to say. The first is that organisations such as The Prince’s Countryside Fund which we have supported in the past and I think we will continue to support in the future, do a very good job of bringing together those farmers who for a variety of reasons, partly because of the scale of their farm enterprise or the geography of their location, may find it more difficult than some to have access to the sort of information and knowledge transfer that’s necessary to keep businesses competitive. We – government – need to ensure that we support networks and organisations like this.”
