Promoting local produce in Hampshire
About the organisation
Hampshire Fare, the county food group of Hampshire, was established to promote the benefits of buying local produce.
About the project
Thanks to The Prince’s Countryside Fund the group will now attempt to preserve the Hampshire Hog. This symbol of the county represents local pig farmers who are currently under threat. Hampshire Fare will help the farmers add value to their pork by encouraging them to diversify into cured meats. By uniting producers and covering the initial charcuterie training and marketing costs, the aim is to develop a new marque and sell the products at local events and through shops and restaurants, ensuring a sustainable future for Hampshire pig farmers.
