About the organisation

Barnardo’s purpose is to help vulnerable children and young people transform their lives.  Barnardo's Works Cairngorms is an exisiting service that provides a range of opportunities to young people who are long term unemployed and living in this rural area. The Cairngorms National Park is a vast area that provides a wide range of activities and opportunties. However, rural poverty prevents many local people from participating.

Impact

Thanks to the PCF Grant the service will continue to assist "young people to overcome barriers and into employment" by providing training, support and guaranteed 6 month paid work placements. Tailored to support entry into rural businesses, the Fund will specifically support the training costs of this project, such as tractor driving and chainsaw skills plus the transport expenses to help the young people involved make the transition into sustained employment. 20 young people will be provided with accredited training, support and guaranteed 6 month paid work placements.
