The Prince’s Farm Resilience Programme

The Prince’s Farm Resilience Programme

Family farms are at the heart of the British countryside and their health is vital for the future of our rural communities. The last three years of declining farmgate prices has put an unprecedented strain on farm businesses. In response we have developed a programme of support for small family farms built on the successful delivery model of The Prince’s Dairy Initiative.

Interested in taking part?

The Prince’s Farm Resilience Programme is being run annually in 15 locations around the UK. It is open to small dairy, livestock and mixed family farm businesses and includes a series of free workshops and one-to one guidance.

The 2017-18 Regions will be announced at the end of August. Please do let us know if you would like to be emailed with these locations once they are published, or alternatively if you would like to suggest your local area as a potential delivery location for future years.

Why The Prince’s Farm Resilience Programme?

“It is a good thing to stand back and look at the business with a critical eye every now and then. The past week has seen me look hard at various aspects of the farm where changes can be made to be more efficient.”

Against a backdrop of continuing uncertainty farmers have to make critical decisions every day for their business and their family. Our research commissioned from the University of Exeter into the viability of the small family farm explored the longer-term prospects for family farms. Through this programme we address some of the issues by providing essential information, handy tips and advice.

By taking part farmers will be able to build their confidence in their own business and identify the next steps and changes needed for their farm.

Through our programme of free workshops and one-to-one guidance, The Prince's Farm Resilience Programme will give farm businesses the tools to evaluate their viability and long-term sustainability, enabling them to make informed business decisions on their future direction.
